Key features
- DC/DC boost converter: from a 3.7 V LiPo/Li-Ion battery to 5.2 V DC for 5 V projects such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi or BeagleBone
- 5.2 V output instead of 5.0 V, for headroom with long cables, high current draw or an output diode
- Texas Instruments TPS61090 boost chip: 2 A internal switch (about 2.5 A peak limiting), synchronous conversion at 700 kHz, over 90% efficiency in most cases
- EN pin: tie to ground to turn the output off completely
- Red low-battery LED when the voltage dips below 3.2 V
- MCP73871 load-sharing charger powered from micro USB: charges 3.7/4.2 V LiPo/Li-Ion batteries at up to 1000 mA; yellow charging LED and green done LED
- Automatic switch-over to USB power when available: charge and boost at the same time with no interruption, like a UPS
- Data resistors for 1000 mA charging of iPad, iPhone and iPod via the USB A connector
- Works only with a LiPo battery attached, needed to handle load spikes; charging requires a quality 2 A USB adapter with thick power wires
